UV-A – so that reptiles can fully perceive their world

For many reptiles, UV-A is part of the visible spectrum.
We see the terrarium with our eyes. Your reptile sees it differently.
UV light is invisible to us humans. For many reptiles, however, UV-A forms part of the visible spectrum of their environment. It influences how they perceive colours, contrasts and their surroundings. Lighting that reproduces only the colour spectrum visible to us can therefore create a world for a reptile that is very different from that of natural sunlight.
Holistic vision in the terrarium
The SOLAR RAPTOR® UV LED SunSpot supplements visible terrarium lighting with a uniform UV-A spectrum. In doing so, it creates lighting conditions that more closely resemble the natural perception of many reptiles and enable a more nuanced perception of colours and contrasts.
The visible light spectrum is of particularly high quality: with a colour temperature of 5,250 K and a colour rendering index (CRI) of 98, the UV LED SunSpot produces very natural-looking daylight. It thus combines high colour rendering with specific UV-A radiation.
Selectively supplementing UV-A – energy-efficient with LED
The UV LED SunSpot is designed to complement a normal terrarium lighting system. It does not replace a suitable UV-B source for vitamin D3 synthesis, nor does it replace a necessary heat source. Rather, it supplements these with the UV-A component, thereby contributing to the most comprehensive lighting setup possible.
The SOLAR RAPTOR® UV LED SunSpot utilises energy-efficient LED technology. With a power consumption of just 22 W, it produces 1,390 lm of light output and requires no separate ballast. The classic E27 socket allows for straightforward integration into suitable thermostable lamp sockets.
For lighting that isn’t just pleasing to the human eye
We judge a terrarium with our own eyes – but its inhabitants perceive it differently. Holistic terrarium lighting therefore takes into account not only what we can see, but also the components of light that are relevant to the animal.
The SOLAR RAPTOR® UV LED SunSpot provides a targeted solution for this: High-quality daylight plus UV-A – efficiently delivered using modern LED technology.
